Change 558.00 m ( 1800 ft )
Distance 7.24 km ( 4.50 miles )

Directions  On the I-210 Foothill Freeway in Monrovia, exit at Myrtle Avenue.
Head north on Myrtle, toward the mountains, to Foothill Blvd.
Turn right at Foothill and go two lights to Canyon Blvd.
Turn left at Canyon, drive through residential area for about 0.7 mile to Scenic Dr. and follow Canyon Blvd as it curves to the right. In another 0.3 mile, park south the intersection of Canyon Blvd & Oakglade Drive.

We will meet at the three-foot tall monument sign for Monrovia Park at the intersection of Canyon Blvd & Oakglade Dr and hike to the trail head from there.

Look for hikers.

If you want to cut a mile (RT) off your hike, continue into the park and meet us at the first guard shack. And be sure to pay your ~$5 parking fee. There is a parking lot at the trail head, and more parking past the gate where the road ends; both are $5.

The Good  > The park closes to traffic at 5PM, but pedestrian access is still allowed.
> This trail is dog friendly.

The Bad  > $5 fee when parking closer to the trail head.
> The parking lot closer to the trail head may be very crowded.
> Closed Tuesdays
> Lots of flies and biting bugs during the hot summer months.
> No rest rooms at the trail head.
> There will probably be lots of people

Where  Monrovia.

Notes  This trail is said to be one of the most delightful waterfall hikes this side of the the San Gabriel front range.

From the meeting point we will walk ~0.5 miles up to the lower parking lot and entry station. The trailhead will be about 75 yards past the entry station on the left. From there we have a steadily climb along the side of the canyon, taking us through a mature oak forest, followed by a couple of stream crossings.
At the trail junction, turn left to continue to the falls, or right to visit the restrooms at the middle parking lot.
At the Nature Center trail junction, go straight.
From hear, the trail ascends past several check dams and a lush green forest before coming to the water fall.

For the way back, we have the option of taking one of the many other branching trails to the main road and descend the mountain that way.
