Special instructions Hike the Skirt! (Note the time change.)
This will be a great day to wear your favorite skirt, kilt, towel, or toga.
Considering the number of hikers attending Tuxedo Tyrants or other events the night before, it seems best to push the hike back to the afternoon. |

Directions From Los Angeles, take the 101 Freeway north. Exit at Barham Blvd. and turn right. Turn right onto Lake Hollywood Drive and follow the signs until you reach the reservoir. This will take you to the north gate of the reservoir (see aerial photo). Meet here.
Google maps is no longer showing the correct location for this address, so it may be best to just follow the signs once you're in the area. |
|
The Good It's an easy walk - good for talking and getting to know people.rnThe dam is no longer fenced off, so we can walk out over the water. |
|
The Bad No dogs are allowed in pedestrian road. |

Notes This hike follows the perimeter of the Hollywood Reservoir on an asphalt service road that is closed to vehicles. The road, which is landscaped on both sides, is a rural retreat inside the city that is frequently used as a walking and jogging trail. The tall foliage obscures full views of the reservoir except when crossing Mulholland Dam. The dam crossing is magnificent. To the north is Mount Lee and the "Hollywood" sign overlooking the beautiful reservoir below. To the south is a view of Hollywood and the Los Angeles Basin. |
