Special instructions Hello all
So, just flew in from China to America to celebrate a Russian!
The night before this hike is Yuri's night. There is like a THOUSAND people going.
You can still get tickets though - they run $85 to rub shoulders with real astronauts and real space cadets.
More info here https://la.yurisnight.net/ (Sat night. At 6 people taking pics with fancy cars, at 7 lots of people showing up)
Late start hike the next day, a gentle walk around the Hollywood reservoir, share insights, good conversation, and enjoy the stunningly good weather right now. Beath.
p.s. I'll be driving to this from Pasadena. If anyone wants a lift, ping me. Will be heading back right after hike.

Directions From Los Angeles, take the 101 Freeway north. Exit at Barham Blvd. and turn right. Turn right onto Lake Hollywood Drive and follow the signs until you reach the reservoir. This will take you to the north gate of the reservoir (see aerial photo). Meet here.
Google maps is no longer showing the correct location for this address, so it may be best to just follow the signs once you're in the area. |

The Good It's an easy walk - good for talking and getting to know people.rnThe dam is no longer fenced off, so we can walk out over the water. |
|
The Bad No dogs are allowed in pedestrian road. |

Notes This hike follows the perimeter of the Hollywood Reservoir on an asphalt service road that is closed to vehicles. The road, which is landscaped on both sides, is a rural retreat inside the city that is frequently used as a walking and jogging trail. The tall foliage obscures full views of the reservoir except when crossing Mulholland Dam. The dam crossing is magnificent. To the north is Mount Lee and the "Hollywood" sign overlooking the beautiful reservoir below. To the south is a view of Hollywood and the Los Angeles Basin. |
