Special instructions   Come on, how can you say no when it's called "Poo Poo Point"?

(Also, the weather is supposed to be nice.)

The map is to Issaquah High School. Here are full directions:

Drive east on I-90 and take the Front St Exit (Exit 17). Make a right at Front St and turn left at Sunset Way. Turn right on 2nd Avenue, drive just past Issaquah High School and find the trailhead parking area on the left, just before the light at 2nd Avenue and Front St. Follow the trail from the parking lot, and as you pass the high school stadium take a trail coming in from the right.

Directions  See the marker on this map: http://tinyurl.com/poopootrail

Drive east on I-90 and take the Front St Exit (Exit 17). Follow Front St south for 1.5 miles (through and past Issaquah town) and turn left on 2nd Avenue. After a couple of houses there will be a small parking indent on the right (ballpark eight-car size). There is street parking on 2nd if the lot is full. We'll meet in the lot. To catch us on the trail, follow the trail from the parking lot, and as you pass the high school stadium take a trail coming in from the right.

Where  Issaquah, WA

Notes  There is nothing scatological about the naming of Poo Poo Point (there is a very modern restroom there). It was named by Harvey Manning, the trails activist and guidebook author, who was roaming Tiger long before it acquired its popular hiking status.

Longwell writes that before radio communication between loggers, the choker and the yarder communicated through a series of air whistles. The choker signaled with a whistle when the cable had been set around the log. The whistle created a "poo poo" sound that resonated through the forest. The yarder, who couldn't been seen by the choker, would reply and tighten the cable.

The hike is about 3 hours round trip.
